GUEST BLOGGING TOMORROW AT EYEONROMANCE.COM

Posted by dbreynolds on April 27, 2009

I just wanted to remind everyone that I’ll be guest blogging at Eyeonromance.com on Tuesday, April 28th! I’ll be having a giveaway contest for everyone who comments — first name chosen gets their choice of a print or PDF of RAPHAEL, second name chosen gets the remainder.

I’ve also written what I hope will be a provocative essay on Bad Boys-Good Girls in which I wonder why the women in Romance novels have to be so very good, while the boys are encouraged to be so very bad.

Bad girls of the world unite! You have nothing to lose but your … um … frustration? LOL

WORKING ON RAJMUND

Posted by dbreynolds on April 25, 2009

So, I’m working away on RAJMUND this weekend (Book 3), and obsessively checking Amazon for more reviews and my current sales ranking, which had a very nice bump after Harriet Klausner’s review. A very nice bump.

But back to writing. RAJMUND is finally going smoothly. I’ve settled into my characters. I know who these people are now; I know how they’ll react and what they think. It’s a very good feeling. I can sit down and write almost anything, and technically it will be fine. But the really good writing comes when I know and, more importantly, like (or dislike in some cases) the people I’m writing about. It’s a great feeling. Sometimes, when I’m in the middle of a book, and I’m doing something from Real Life that’s completely unrelated, I’ll find myself feeling anxious or unsettled. And I realize it’s because I want to know what happens next. And that’s when I know the story’s finally working.

And RAJMUND is definitely working. Which means my story is calling me back to MSWord. (Either that or Microsoft has finally perfected their evil mind-control.) LOL

Before I go, I want to thank from the bottom of my heart everyone who has taken the time to post here or to write me personally and let me know how much they loved RAPHAEL. This is my first book — this will never happen again, and I was sooooo nervous. You all have made this one of the best experiences of my life. So, thank you.

REVIEWS ON AMAZON!

Posted by dbreynolds on April 23, 2009

I was checking out my Amazon reviews — hoping for more — and discovered I have three reviews, all five stars! Plus … Harriet Klausner is one of those reviews and she’s given RAPHAEL FIVE STARS!! Is that great or what????

And RAPHAEL is currently the #3 best selling “Dark Fantasy/Romance” over at Fictionwise.com, as well as one of the top ten best in their overall e-book reader ratings!

Thank you, everyone who bought and read RAPHAEL. This is so cool!

FICTIONWISE.COM!!

Posted by dbreynolds on April 21, 2009

RAPHAEL is officially listed as a “Best Seller” on Fictionwise.com! That’s the site that offers all the various e-versions. Cool. Of course, at least one person didn’t like it. Not cool. But most readers did. Very cool.

WRITING!

Posted by dbreynolds on April 18, 2009

I’m deep into writing this week. First, I had to write an essay for my guest blog on eyeonromance.com, which will be on April 28 — more on that later. And then I had to make some final revisions to JABRIL — continuity stuff with RAPHAEL. And now I’m totally buried in RAJMUND (RYE-mund), or RAJ (as in Roger), as everyone calls him in the book. Well, everyone except Raphael, who goes old country.

This is the first time I’ve written a book on deadline. RAPHAEL and JABRIL were pretty much written before I even had a book contract, so this is a new experience for me. It’s like being back in college again, and there’s that same temptation to wait until the night before to begin the term paper! Except this term paper is about 90,000 words! But not to worry, readers, I’ve actually already written about 70,000 words of Raj, so it WILL be completed on time.

I’ve gotten lots of feedback on RAPHAEL — all of it good. Now, maybe it’s just that the people who didn’t like it aren’t bothering to let me know that, but it’s nice to know that MOST of the readers liked it a lot and are waiting impatiently for JABRIL, which will release from ImaJinn on July 31 this year.

No reviews on Amazon yet. :-( I posted the two blurbs from Kelley Armstrong and Adrian Phoenix, so RAPHAEL wouldn’t look so forlorn. LOL

Okay. Back to writing.

COVER ART FOR JABRIL!!

Posted by dbreynolds on April 13, 2009

Is this terrific or what? The artist of both my covers is Patricia Lazarus and they’re gorgeous. Click on the JABRIL page above for a very brief synopsis of JABRIL. But for the record, unlike the charismatic and beautiful RAPHAEL, JABRIL is a very bad guy — and I think that’s reflected wonderfully in this cover.JABRIL Cover
