RT BR Award . . . . Houston, Texas—Cowboy boots, baseball and journeys to the stars . . . right? Wrong. Because Houston is also home to Jabril Karim, one of the eight powerful Vampire Lords who control all of North America. And as Private Investigator Cynthia Leighton will soon discover, not all Vampire Lords are created equal. For Jabril is the face of evil in the new world, a vampire who values no life but his own, who enslaves those he desires, steals whatever he covets and destroys anyone who stands in his way. Running from L.A. and its seductive Vampire Lord, Raphael, Cyn sees the Houston job as a welcome refuge, a place to get away and heal her broken heart. But Texas will be no vacation. For in Jabril Karim, Cyn will confront a true enemy, one who will go to any lengths to satisfy his lusts, enrich his coffers and expand his power. Fighting for the lives of two young sisters, Cyn’s journey will take her through the streets of Houston and back to L.A., where the human police are determined to bring Raphael down for the murder of one of their own. But the danger doesn’t end there. For Jabril has set his sights on Cyn, and he will stop at nothing to have her. . . REVIEWS . . —RT Book Reviews – Top Pick, January 2010 A strong heroine, a sensual vampire and a menacing villain, evil in every sense of the word — it doesn’t get much better than this second installment in the Vampires in America series. Readers will have a tough time closing the book on this riveting story. Reynolds’ complex mythology includes eight vampire lords who control North America. A top-notch series! . –Bitten by Books (BittenByBooks.com) 5 TOMBSTONES! As before, Reynolds offers up a fast-paced, well-plotted and skillfully-executed narrative that pulls the reader in from the very first page. As with book one, Cyn remains the primary character of a story set in the world of the vampire lord whose name graces the title on the cover: a strong, smart, resourceful human woman with no superpowers of any kind who takes on human and vampire foes alike, serving as protector of those who cannot defend themselves. The intriguing world the author creates comes alive on the page. A thread of humor applied with just the right touch adds to the reading experience of this terrific novel. This reviewer hopes the wait for book three will not be too long. . –Joyfully Reviewed (Joyfullyreviewed.com) Jabril is a fast-paced thriller that will leave you agog. Jabril’s character is spooky and evil; he is the perfect nemesis for Cyn and Raphael. I can officially say I am in love with this series! . –PNR (ParaNormalRomance.org) One word: “awesome”. D.B. Reynolds delivers another hit. The story of Cyn and Raphael just keeps getting better and better in this sequel to her debut book Raphael. Full of thrills, danger and romance with one sexy vampire and one very strong woman, it will keep the readers hooked. . –DemonLoversBooks & More (DemonLoversBooksAndMore.com) This 2nd book in the Vampires in America series gave us a little bit of everything; a thrilling story, passion, new characters, drama and betrayal … DB has a knack for grabbing you by the collar and dragging you in to a book, leaving you riveted and unable to put it down. This 2nd in the series is no exception. … I am breathless with anticipation to find out where DB will take us next in these amazing Vampires in America series, DB Reynolds is definitely an author to watch. . –Vampire Romance Books (VampireRomanceBooks.com) A fabulous book filled with action, suspense, sexual tension, a kick-ass heroine with a fondness for sarcasm, and a sexy, dark and dangerous vampire lord who always gets what he wants.  This book is definitely not in the Vampire Romance category. I would put this book in the Urban Fantasy genre along with books like Night Huntress, Anita Blake, and Riley Jensen. I love a book that has a woman who can stand her ground with the big boys and an alpha male who can’t believe he’s fallen for that woman! Cyn and Raphael’s relationship is not the perfect “Happily Ever After” and I loved that. Reynolds has added a great secondary cast of characters that are as much a part of the story as Raphael and Cyn. I can’t wait to read the second book in the series, Jabril, to find out what happens next with Cyn and Raphael! . The Romance Review –The Romance Reviews I was completely engrossed in this series by the end of the first chapter. Everything I liked in Raphael–the pacing of the plot, the very strong characters and excellent descriptions that put you in the scene along with the characters–was here. . –Bitten by Paranormal Romance  (BittenByParanormalRomance.com) JABRIL is captivating with the evolution of Mirabelle and the development of Cyn and Raphael. But the shit hits the fan when Jabril decides to intercede and make his play. That is when the action really starts and our girl Cyn comes to life. Beware: bloody, gory vamp violence with a bit of good ‘ole human know-how mixed in to even the odds. I expect nothing less from Ms. Reynolds! JABRIL ends with a superb twist I sure didn’t see coming!
