Thanksgiving 2013

Happy Thanksgiving to all of my U.S. readers this week!

Thanksgiving isn’t a big deal around the mansion in Malibu. Some of the guys might venture out for some stuffing-laced blood, but Raphael and Cyn stay close to home and each other. As for their favorite author (that would be yours truly, I mean who else, right?) the DH and I will have a quiet dinner at home. Different sections of my big family will have big parties, but I think we’ll keep it small, as in turkey for two. 🙂

I can’t quite believe that it’s Thanksgiving already, and nearly December. People are already posting pictures of their trees on Facebook! I haven’t put up a tree for the last few years, but I remember when I did, and by the time Christmas rolled around and over, I could hardly wait to get the tree out of my living room! I can’t imagine having it sit there for more than a month, but, hey, that’s just me.

This year has just zipped by. Maybe because there was so much happening, both good and bad, and I’ve been too busy to keep track of the passing days, too busy looking at looming deadlines. I’ll have to do better next year.
ADEN Final Final Hi Rez Full SizeBut the year’s not over yet! In fact, one of the biggest events on my calendar is about to happen and that’s the release of ADEN! Woohoo! I’m trying to get a firm date from my new publisher. So far, they’re sticking to the November 30 date, but I’m hoping it will slide forward by a couple of days. I should hear something this week. I do know for sure that for the first time the book will be available on both Nook and Kobo, in addition to Kindle, although the Nook and Kobo releases might be a day or so later than Kindle.

I can hardly wait ’til you all get to read his story. I’m nervous. But then I’m always nervous by this time in the writing cycle, because I’ve read the story so many times that I can’t tell if it’s good anymore! All I see are individual words and whether they’re spelled right. LOL

In the meantime, I’ve added some more books to my 100 Books Challenge. I met the Challenge long ago, but I’ll keep adding books as I always do. I finished the last of the Rock Chicks by Kristen Ashley. I’m gonna miss them. The final book was Ally and Ren, and Ren might just be my favorite of all the hot guys. I especially loved the scene at the restaurant on date night–if you’ve read the book, or if you read it in the future, you’ll know which one. ::sigh:: What a man.

And while we’re contemplating good books, PARANORMAL HAVEN is soliciting nominations for the best of 2013. It’s tough for me to compete against the giant authors, but it would be nice if I could at least get on the list! You can nominate books, characters, series … all sorts of categories. THE INFORMATION IS ALL HERE. Please note the link to follow if you can’t see the form … it says If you cannot see the form below, click on this link. The comments section IS NOT the form.

And then there’s NaNo … do you really want to know? I am hopelessly behind on my NaNo count. The preparations for ADEN, including the galley proof, took too many days, and more importantly, broke the discipline of nightly writing. According to NaNo, I’d have to write more than 3500 words a day from now ’til the end of November to hit 50K. Is it possible? Sure. Is it probable? Uh, no. I blame my sprinkler valve, the one that broke back at the end of March and flooded my house. The one that made ADEN’s delivery date slip by a month, which made ADEN’s release date slip by a month, which put the final prep for ADEN right in the middle of NaNo.

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. 🙂

And finally, since this is a time for giving thanks, I’m thankful for all of the people who love me and are always there when I need someone to listen, to tell me it will all be okay, to hug me when it gets too bad. I’m thankful for my friends and fellow writers who keep my spirits up when the words aren’t coming, who share the complaints and successes of those of us who choose this solitary profession. And I’m thankful for each and every one of you, my dear readers, because you make it possible for me to keep doing what I love.

See you next week with DETAILS! Yay!

xoxo
