BLEARY EYED WRITER IN THE HOUSE!

Posted by dbreynolds on February 4, 2013

Yep, emerging from my writer cave once again to communicate with the outside world! :D I stayed up all last night, literally didn’t sleep. And I discovered two things … (1) I can’t write a big fight/battle scene when I’m really tired, and (2) I’m not in college anymore. That second observation has to do with age and the ability to stay up all night and still function the next day. LOL

I did manage to perk up in time for the Super Bowl. I know it’s a distinctly American thing, and many people in other countries don’t understand the game, but I love football! I didn’t even have a favorite team in this game, and I loved it anyway. Although that power outage right in the middle of the game was one for the record books. That was just weird. The commercials were pretty good, although no real standouts this year. My all-time favorite is still probably the DARTH VADER KID COMMERCIAL

This year, I liked the screaming goat Doritos commercial, and the Bud Light lucky chair Stevie Wonder/Zoe Saldana one. And the Jeep/Soldiers Coming Home ad put tears in my eyes. But I guess the best one had to be the CLYDESDALE Budweiser ad By the way, you can see all of the ads and vote on your favorites HERE.

And that’s it for Superbowl XLVII.

And now for this week’s tech report … BN.com shipped me a new Nook to replace my frozen one, and my Kindle continues to limp along. However, my microwave decided to burn up (or something) on Friday. I never realized how dependent I am on that thing until I didn’t have it this weekend. I had to heat my salsa con queso on the stove!! Oh, the humanity! LOL

Back to my writing stuff … I’m taking a survey of my readers. I posted it on Facebook yesterday, but for the rest of you … what are your favorite paranormal romance/urban fantasy book covers? Just leave it in the comments below, and thanks!

Hmmm, I think that’s it. I still need to write that big fight/battle scene tonight, so I better get started.

Have a good week, and I’ll be back here next Sunday!

xoxo

2 MORE DAYS ‘TIL BETRAYED!

Posted by dbreynolds on August 13, 2012

I can’t believe it’s here already, but BETRAYED’s official release date is Wednesday. I’m on Amazon watch, in case it pops early, and I’ll let you know if it does. By the way, the image above is the final hi-rez version of the cover. If you click on it, you can see the cover in full beautiful color!
.
In the meantime, there are more early reviews of BETRAYED, and they’re all good. You can check them out on GOODREADS. And at DAWN and WINNIE BOOK REVIEWS
.
And then because Wednesday is RELEASE DAY, I’ve got TWO guest posts and giveaways that you won’t want to miss. Our favorite Huff ‘n Puff reporter will be visiting this Wednesday, August 15th, with Cyn and Raphael at PARANORMAL HAVEN In addition to the guest post, The Haven will be posting their review of BETRAYED, and I’ll be giving away a free copy of the novella, too.
.
Also on Wednesday, I’ll be dropping in at I SMELL SHEEP where I’ll be the Guest Chef and bringing along my recipe for the perfect RAPHAEL. Yum!! And, of course, another giveaway of BETRAYED. And Sharon will be posting her own review of BETRAYED, too.
.
And if you don’t win either of those giveaways, not to worry. I have lots more promos in the coming weeks. I’ll be posting them all here, and on Facebook, too. So stay in touch.
.
Also this week, my wonderful writing partner, Steve McHugh, posted a new interview with yours truly. If you want to know why I’ll survive the coming Zombie Apocalypse, and a few other things, too, drop by STEVE McHUGH’s BLOG and check it out. And while you’re there, be sure and check out Steve’s fantastic first book, CRIMES AGAINST MAGIC. It’s getting nothing but glowing reviews all around!
.
On the subject of FACEBOOK, by the way, they’re forcing me into their Timeline format. I’ve been retooling the damn thing for days, so I’ve gone ahead and jumped with it instead of waiting for their drop dead date. I’ll be keeping an eye on it, to see if I’ve screwed anything up. I’m not crazy about it, but you can’t fight, er, um, progress(?) LOL
.
And speaking of progress, I DID IT! I cleaned out the underwear drawer. I tossed an entire CPK huge bag of stuff, and now every time I open the drawer, I’m startled and reaching for the wrong thing. And I feel so proud every time. LIttle victories, people. Little victories.
.
Also, I posted this on FACEBOOK, but I also want to call your attention to a lovely new review of THE VIGNETTES from THE ROMANCE REVIEWS! Always nice to hear!
.
TV Reviews … first, I’m sad to report that LONGMIRE had its season finale last night. I feel as though the season just started and now it’s over already. ::sniff:: FALLING SKIES is still going, and I admit I’m not at all surprised that 2nd Mass didn’t fit well into Charleston’s underground mall world. I do have a question, though. Where are they getting all that food they’re serving on the buffet line? They must be going above ground for that, right? And then there’s ::sigh:: TRUE BLOOD. I have no idea what’s going on there, and no interest either. When the strongest character in the show is TARA, a character I never liked, we’ve got trouble. Bill is … I don’t know what Bill’s game is. Pam is a total wimp, which she is NOT in the books. And Eric, who should be stronger than just about everyone except Russell, is one of the weakest vamps around. Russell at least is in character, and now that he’s broken free, maybe he’ll even be interesting. And Sam and Luna better rescue Emma quick, because that storyline makes me a little sick. And then, yes, I have a question. Apparently a Stackhouse ancestor made a deal with Waldo that essentially gives him Sookie. So far, so good. Just one tiny, little question. I though Sookie’s fae blood came to her through her Gran–the one who died in the first season. But Gran was only a Stackhouse by marriage, so if someone made a deal with the fairies, it shouldn’t be a Stackhouse, should it? Of course, maybe it’s only in the books that the fae blood comes through Gran. And that’s it for this week’s TV. One of my favorite shows, STRIKE BACK is picking up its new season next week, I think, so that consoles me for the loss of LONGMIRE. A little bit.
.
And that’s it for this week.
.
See you all on the other side of BETRAYED! Squeeeeee!

BETRAYED!

Posted by dbreynolds on August 6, 2012

No, not me personally! The first Cyn & Raphael e-novella!! And here’s the cover. I love Raphael’s sexy hand. I have a weakness for men with beautiful hands. Plus, you can’t see it here, ‘cuz I don’t have the hi rez image yet, but Raphael’s eyes are black with a silver spark. So pretty.

Don’t forget, the release date is August 15, although some reviewers are already reading it, and the reports are good so far.
.
Okay, now that the big news is done with, let me say I’m typing this from my desktop computer, which is a pain in the butt! My network router is having a nervous breakdown, so I’ve had to abandon my comfy chair and laptop, and work in my home office in order to connect directly to my modem. Argh! I don’t have the time or inclination at 1:00 in the morning to diagnose the damn router problem. So I bit the bullet and moved in here. Stupid router.
.
On the plus side, I managed to post several reviews this week! Of course, now I’ve read even more books, so I have more reviews to post, but at least the review pile’s getting shorter. You can check out the latest reviews under the WHAT I’M READING NOW tab above, or on my bookshelf at GOODREADS.COM.
.
On the big screen … I didn’t see any movies this week. Or last week either. I will definitely be seeing Dark Knight Rising very soon, and I can hardly wait for Bourne Legacy! I loved the Matt Damon Bourne movies, and Jeremy Renner is one of my favorite actors.
.
On the small screen, aka television, I watched with bated breath tonight as the JPL rover Curiosity touched down on Mars!! I was in geek heaven, watching it on a live feed from JPL. It landed perfectly, and we saw thumbnail images almost immediately. There was much geek hugging and kissing in the control center. It was a beautiful thing. You can check it out yourself at the JPL/NASA website
.
More small screen news and reviews … I watched last week’s (July 30) episode of TRUE BLOOD, and this is my report … (1) watching the Alcide sex scene … Sookie doesn’t know what she missed. Hot, hot, hot!!! (2) Bill is (as I’ve always known) a wimp. One minute he’s all “I won’t be bullied into killing the mother of a child (in a southern accent, of course,) and the next he’s all “outta my way, Salome, gimme some neck!!” WTF? (3) Eric is the only rational one, and how wrong is that? Eric’s supposed to be a crazy, bloodthirsty Viking, not the only sane vampire in the room!
.
Now, my next comments relate to both last week and this week. First, I am SO glad that the Terry and the Ifrit storyline is OVER! Didn’t care then, don’t care now! I am glad, however, that at least Lafayette made some money on the deal. LOL And as for the creature who killed Sookie’s parents … Am I the only one who thought Claudine was yelling “Waldo” instead of “Warlow?” And I was thinking, Well, THAT’s where he’s been all this time!”
.
But mostly, as I watched this week’s episode with the gory, charred looking Lilith and still boring, but bloodthirsty Bill, and naked guys on lit-from-below tables being eaten alive, and pigs and Bud Dearborn and Fangtasia going to hell … and all I could think was … What the hell happened to this show? This is kind of like Season 2 when they went nuts with Mariann and the naked middle-aged orgies, which had no place in the books. I’m having trouble figuring out a reason to keep watching at this point. If not for my DVR, I wouldn’t watch at all.
.
Not all is lost in TV land, however. Well, not for a couple of weeks anyway. LONGMIRE returned this week, but it only has one more episode to go, which is sad. FALLING SKIES came back, too. I’m not sure how many episodes they have left, but in this week, they reached Charleston, and contrary to expectations, all is not lost. Well, except for the harnessed little girl who lost her guardian and now … who the heck knows? Is she connected, is she not? She’s definitely in dire need of a good manicure!
.
Okay, that’s it for this week. I’ll be back next week with a new contest to celebrate my 700th Facebook friend! In the meantime, be sure and mark your calendars for August 15 and BETRAYED, and I’ll see you next Sunday.
.

AND HOW DID YOU SPEND YOUR WEEK?

Posted by dbreynolds on July 30, 2012

My week was devoted to RWA’s National Conference. Getting ready for it, fighting traffic to get there (groan) and BEING THERE! It was terrific.
.
First, there was the Literacy Signing, and so many of my readers came by to say “Hi!” Of course, most of you already had the books, but a few bought autographed print versions, so I did my part for the fundraising. It was so nice to meet so many readers, both at the signing and in other Con events, so many of you I “see” here and on Goodreads, and to meet you in person was lovely. Lynn Marshall, who was sitting next to me at the Signing, commented how enthusiastic my readers were and how much they loved the books! And I couldn’t agree more. I’m a lucky, lucky writer to have such wonderful readers!
.
I have a couple of pictures from the Signing, too. First up is me and Stephanie from PARANORMAL HAVEN. Steph and Athenna have hosted me at the Haven many times, and I was so happy to finally meet Stephanie in person.
.
And then … one of my personal favorite authors, the oh so talented Nalini Singh, was signing just a few feet away, so I dropped by to tell her how much I love her books and grab a picture.

I met so many talented writers, including the lovely Morgan Ashbury—who happens to be a fellow member of Kelley Armstrong’s OWG—and I spoke with agents and editors and booksellers, and even hostage negotiator, Lt. Michael Woodcock who gave a very informative workshop along with his wife, the bestselling author, Angela Knight. And I won the giveaway ARC of Angela’s forthcoming book, too! I took lots of notes, so now I need to write a story with that scenario in it!
.
So, yes, it was great. But so was coming home at last. I was ready to sleep for a day! Unfortunately, there was laundry to do. LOL But it’s still nice to be home and not have to face L.A. traffic for a while.
.
Believe it or not, I didn’t watch this week’s TRUE BLOOD yet! I just haven’t had time to catch up on TV shows. They’re waiting on my DVR for me, though, so I will watch them and report later. Speaking of TV shows, THE KILLING, which I really enjoyed, but which lost A LOT of viewers when it didn’t reveal Rosie’s killer until the end of Season 2, will NOT be coming back for a third season. The way they ended Season 2 was a big clue, but there really wasn’t anywhere for them to go with Season 3. And my favorites LONGMIRE and FALLING SKIES both took a break for the Olympics.
.
Now, back to Vampires in America … I still don’t have a cover for the first CYN/RAPHAEL e-novella. My artist had a family crisis that had to take precedence. The cover’s almost done, but not quite. I do however have a title … and a release date!! BETRAYED will release on AUGUST 15th. So, just a couple of weeks and you’ll have a brand new Cyn/Raphael e-novella to read!! And I’ll be doing some promo with giveaways, which I’ll announce before then.
.
Well, that’s it for this week. I will watch TRUE BLOOD and let you know what I think so far. And I will try very hard to get some book reviews up, now that the crush of RWA is over with.
.
See you back here next week!

I’M GOING TO RWA … and other news!

Posted by dbreynolds on July 23, 2012

Yep, I’m off to the RWA National Convention this week (that’s the Romance Writers of America, btw.) It’s my first national RWA con, and I’m excited about meeting several on-line friends in person at last. Plus, all sorts of interesting workshops and meetings. And I’ll be taking my camera, so … pictures!!

Most of the conference is for attendees only, but on Wednesday, July 25, there’s the big “Readers for Life” Literacy Autographing, with 400 authors, including yours truly. It’s open to public, and there’s no admission fee, but there are no outside books allowed. It’s a fundraising event, with all sales proceeds going to several organizations promoting literacy. Numbered among the 400 authors participating will be …
.
Nalini Singh (one of my personal favorite authors)
Nora Roberts (it doesn’t get much better than that!)
Sylvia Day
Victoria Alexander
Robyn Carr
Brenda Jackson
Christine Dodd
Jayne Ann Krentz
Stephanie Laurens
.
And me! I’ll be at Table #905, along with several hundred other writers. I mean, they won’t all be at table #905, but they will be in the ballroom with me! LOL
.
So, if you’re in the vicinity, stop by and say “Hi!” Here are the details:
.

July 25, 2012, 5:00 — 8:00 p.m. PST
Anaheim Convention Center
Ballroom, 3rd Floor

.
In other (very exciting!) news, I’ll probably have a cover for the Cyn/Raphael e-novella to show you for next Sunday’s blog post. Plus, I’ve completed the revisions and sent them back, and the e-novella release is looking good for mid-August! The story will be in e-format only, through Amazon’s Kindle store and the ImaJinn Books website (www.ImajinnBooks.com.) Once we have the first four e-novellas, we’ll offer a print omnibus, but until then, it’s e-format only.
.
And now for my weekly (almost) TV report … SPOILERS FOLLOW!! … First up, TRUE BLOOD, and I have only one thing to say … WTF? Okay, I lied. I have more to say than that, but it all follows that theme! First, we discovered that Tara can’t dance. I disagree with Pam. She’s a better BARTENDER!!! And then somehow Russell Edgington went from being trapped in a silver net to being the new, um, Guardian? Is that what he is? I actually played those scenes back, because I couldn’t figure out how that happened. Did I miss some pithy dialogue somewhere? And then half-naked Alcide (always a good thing) spoils the perfection of his sweaty physique with a pitiful doo-rag that for some reason has to hang halfway down his forehead. Looked ridiculous. And, boy, did he move on quickly from Sookie to his new honey bunny … or wolfie, whatever!! And why was Jason bringing Sookie breakfast (or lunch, same thing) in bed? She looked perfectly fine when they left the fairy bar, so why is she now an invalid? Makes no sense. And let’s not forget Sam rolling around on the floor, sniffing out bad guys. Or the poor little white girl who can’t sing warbling out “You Light Up My Life” (my ears are still bleeding) and making cow eyes at her boyfriend(?), and suddenly the bar’s invaded by vamps drunk on vamp blood (huh?) who then proceed to kill everyone in the place. And yet, amazingly, the cops never show up. Reminded me of Sunnydale for a minute. (Geek moment – that was a Buffy reference.) And Lafayette with his mouth sewn shut, which by the way I’ve seen too much of lately. There was an episode of Waking the Dead, which I recently watched on DVD, in which someone sewed up his own lips as part of a starvation protest. Gross. Now, I know those of us who read the books have a different take on the TV show, but … I repeat, WTF?
.
Let’s see, what else did I watch? I’m totally hooked on LONGMIRE on A&E. Love that show. There are only two episodes left and already I miss it!! Although I take comfort in knowing it was renewed for another season. Not much comfort, but some. And my new DVD obsession is THE CLOSER And then there’s FALLING SKIES. I’m totally creeped out by the alien giant spider things scritching their way through metal doors. Gives me the shivers. And I admit, I got a little teary-eyed when Ben left, though I’m sure we’ll see more of him. I have a feeling Charleston (or is it Charlotteville?) is going to be a disappointment, though.
.
Books! I have so many to review. I’ll try to get to those this week. Though, I’m not sure how much free time the conference will leave me.
.
I want to thank everyone who wished me a Happy Birthday! And I’m glad you all liked your prezzie!!
.
Okay, I really have to get some more writing done on my new project, plus some other stuff that MUST BE DONE before I go off to the Con. So, I’ll see you all here next week, hopefully with a cover shot of the new Cyn/Raphael e-novella!
.

LUCAS!! (I told you he was pretty!)

Posted by dbreynolds on June 18, 2012

Okay, first things first, here’s the LUCAS cover, and isn’t he pretty? He’s just as a I pictured him when I wrote the book! If you click the below image, you’ll get a single image … click that and the cover goes full size.

I’ll be sending this manuscript off to my publisher this week, with days to spare! So, we’re on track for a release at the end of October. You already got a glimpse of Lucas at the end of DUNCAN, and you’ll see more of him in the first Cyn/Raphael novella, which will be out this summer. I’ll let you know when I have a firm release date on that. But in the meantime … isn’t he pretty? And, oh yeah, Kathryn’s pretty, too. :D
.
On to my regular reports … no movies last week, though I am going to see Prometheus this week. On TV … we finally found out who killed Rosie on THE KILLING. Half of it was a surprise, the other half not so much. He was a little too creepily intense. I do like the new Richmond, though. Saints are always boring; this is much more interesting. And I’m still not crazy about Midge, she’s very unsympathetic and self-centered. No one’s grief is genuine but hers. Bleah. Looking forward to the next season, though, and wondering if Linden will still be around. Actually, I’m not sure if there will be a next season, yet. Next up is TRUE BLOOD, which gets a double meh. The best part of the episode were Eric’s snarky comments to the Authority guys. As for Tara … yes, please, Lafayette, put her out of her (our) misery. Don’t care about Terry and Arlene, at all. And Alcide is VASTLY underused so far.
.
On BOOKS, I went back and read THE KILLING FLOOR by Lee Child. Excellent book, excellent start to the Jack Reacher saga. I’ve read some of the later books, but not the beginning ones, which is why I’m going back to the start. I finished reading JOHN GILSTRAP’s newest JONATHAN GRAVES book. Loved it! And now I have to wait a whole year! (whine) And now I’ve picked up Thea Harrison’s Dragon Bound, which comes highly recommended.
.
Of course, the book I’m spending most of my time on is … LUCAS. Did I mention he’s awfully pretty? :)
.
Okay, back to work for me. Hope you enjoyed the cover, and I’ll see you all back here next week!

Oooooh. I HAVE SEEN LUCAS AND HE’S BEAUTIFUL!!

Posted by dbreynolds on June 11, 2012

Yes, dear readers, my publisher is already working on the LUCAS cover! This is a combination of good luck and early deadlines. ImaJinn wants to include LUCAS in an ad to run later this year and the deadline is 2 July. That means I get my cover well ahead of the usual schedule. That also means I’ve been working with the artist to find an image for Lucas, and we’ve picked one. And he’s just perfect! This is the closest any of my vamps’ covers have come to the mental picture I had as I wrote the story. As soon as the cover is finalized, I’ll post it here, so all of you can see how beautiful Lucas is, too!
.
On the writing front, the novella is complete and off to my publisher. I’m back working on LUCAS, incorporating the comments from my two wonderful and talented critique partners. And, by the way, I now have all of their comments back and they both love Lucas! Yay! This means LUCAS will deliver on time, and then … Huh. I’m not sure what I’ll do next. I’ve got a couple of new projects I want to work on before I start the next Vampires in America book. And there’s always that ever growing “to-do” list of mine.
.
I saw Snow White and the Huntsman this week. No real spoilers coming here, but if you’re really spoiler-averse, you should stop reading. The movie was pretty good, lots of action and excellent special effects. I could have done without some of the walking through fairyland parts, which were a bit dull, but they didn’t detract from my enjoyment of the film. The ending was odd, with Kristen Stewart smiling (as least as much as she ever does) awkwardly at her subjects and them smiling back at her, ad infinitum. Went on waaaaay too long, but was finally rescued by the (rather subdued) arrival of Chris Hemsworth. You can never have too much Chris Hemsworth, though that ending makes me suspect there’s a sequel in the works. Especially since this one has been such a HUGE hit.
.
And, of course, TRUE BLOOD’s new season premiered this week. Lots of naked Eric, some nice sly humor. I don’t like the Jason storyline. Generally I hate the way they’ve made the TV Jason be such a moron. The book Jason isn’t like that. And, can I say, I am SO glad LaFayette shaved his head. He looks ever so much more handsome this way. SPOILAGE: Tara as a badass/freaky vampire chick? Weird. Definite departure from the books. Eric and his sister … hilarious and sexy as hell. I mean they’re not really siblings, so it doesn’t matter. I loved when Eric yelled at her, and then told Bill they argue like siblings and fuck like lovers. But then, I generally love Eric, so … He’s much better when he’s not swooning over Sookie.
.
Books … finished Nalini Singh’s latest Psy-Changeling, and now on to John Gilstrap’s latest Jonathan Graves book. I do love Digger Graves!
.
I’ve got Buffy on TV as I write this, with the sound down, so it won’t distract me. It’s pathetic, but I know everything that’s being said anyway! LOL Anyway, it’s one of the eps with Bad Angel and Wheelchair Spike. Angel is hustling Drusilla right in front of Spike and she’s all sexing out on him, and it flashes to a close-up of Spike’s face … and he’s so hurt! That bitch!! LOL
.
Hmm, okay. Still gotta get some of that LUCAS work done tonight, so I’ll say “bye” for now. See you back here next week.
.

THE ANTHOLOGY COVER IS HERE!

Posted by dbreynolds on January 23, 2012

And isn’t it beautiful? I love this cover! So sexy! And the ocean background is exactly right. You can click the image for a slightly larger view.

I can hardly wait for this first anthology to come out! Most of the stories will have been on the blog, but the last two are longer and brand new–one featuring Duncan and Emma, and a second novella-length story which covers Raj and Sarah’s wedding. So I’m especially excited about those. The e-version will definitely be available on Valentine’s Day–what can I say, I’m a romantic, why else would I write these stories? ;-) The print version should also be available on that day, although it’s harder to pinpoint Amazon’s inventory control. But, I’m sure it will all work out.

I’ll also be doing some promo for the anthology, including giveaways, but I’ll let you know those dates as they draw closer.

And speaking of giveaways, remember last week when I said I was forgetting something? Well, it was my Holiday Blog Contest from way back in December! So much has happened since then—including the fact that I completely missed the holidays because of my husband’s illness—and I totally forgot all about the giveaway!

Duh!

So, I’m announcing the winner here and now. And the winner is …
.
TAMMY! (with an email address that begins with the letters jfar)
.
Tammy now has one week to get back to me, i.e., by next Sunday night at midnight (01/29/12), confirming her status as Winner of the Holiday Blog Hop prize, which is a copy of any one of my books, winner’s choice, in either print or Kindle format. Be aware if you choose Heart of the Wolf, that this is an e-novella, and available in e-format only.

Hmm, okay, I think that’s it for this week. I’ve got to get back to writing. Now that the anthology is on its way, it’s time for me to finish Raphael and Cyn’s first ever e-novella, and then it’s LUCAS time!! Yay!

See you next week!

Duncan news and so much more!

Posted by dbreynolds on November 21, 2011

Let’s start with DUNCAN (yes, please!) DUNCAN is now available from Amazon in PRINT and KINDLE. They haven’t dropped their print price yet, and probably won’t until BN.com starts shipping. BN.com’s price is lower, but they’re still only offering pre-orders. I expect that to update soon. I also expect Fictionwise to update eventually, but Fictionwise has that weird update schedule, so I just have to keep an eye on it.

In the meantime, though, lots of you have read DUNCAN and so many of you have posted or e-mailed to let me know you loved him. I have the best readers in the world!!

I also received my first reviews for DUNCAN this week. First from Dot at La Deetda Reads. Dot has been a wonderful supporter of my Vampires from the very beginning, and I’m happy to say she loved Duncan and Emma. You can check out her review HERE, but here’s a taste …

Reynolds takes us on a roller coaster of emotions and delivers reading satisfaction. She can write rings around so many of today’s authors. She develops her characters to the point where we live in their skin.

My second review was from RomFan Reviews, who gave DUNCAN Five Hunks (that’s like five stars, but with half naked men!) You can read the full review HERE, but here’s a snippet …

D.B. Reynolds is on a roll I could not put Duncan down it was full of thrills, humor and of course romance. I strongly suggest you read not just Duncan but every book in this series you will not be disappointed.

By the way, I’m doing an Interview and Giveaway at RomFan today. The giveaway is any one of my books, winner’s choice, print or Kindle, and it’s open internationally. There’s a tiny hint about LUCAS in the interview, too, so DROP BY and say “Hi!”

In other news, SOPHIA has been nominated for Best PNR – Vampire (2011) by The Romance Reviews. The competition is really stiff in that category, as always, but it’s nice to be nominated. You can cast your vote for SOPHIA HERE. You’ll have to page through the other categories, but it’s BEST PNR – VAMPIRE (2011)

And in more “other” news, Vampire Book Club is asking readers to nominate the best book they’ve read this year … just in case you want to stop by and nominate SOPHIA or DUNCAN. :) HERE’s the LINK.

On a more practical note, there’s been some question about the PDF version of DUNCAN sold by the ImaJinn Books site. Apparently, readers objected in the past that including the cover art made the file too big and too slow, so ImaJinn stopped including the cover in their PDF’s. But for DUNCAN, some readers were unhappy at not getting the cover art (‘cuz he’s so handsome!) My editor wanted me to pass this on to you … If you received a version without the cover, and you’d like one WITH the cover, you can send ImaJinn your order number and they’ll send you a link to download the book with the cover. You can email ImaJinn at orders@imajinnbooks.com.

Okay, exciting news and business out of the way … I’m still pounding away on my NaNoWriMo project. I got a little behind early in the month, because of DUNCAN’s release, but I’ve caught up with that now, and am right on track to finish my 50K. Of course, after that, I’m going to need to take the month of December off, but what the heck, right? :D

And Winter has officially landed in my neck of the woods. A little early, I know, but we’ve had three rain storms in as many weeks, and I’m typing this with my fingerless gloves on to keep my hands warm. I even brought my patio chair covers in last night, which makes it official. Summer is over. And apparently, so is Fall, I don’t care what the calendar says.

And finally, this week is Thanksgiving for those of us living in the U.S. I’m actually cooking this year … what was I thinking? But I’m ready (almost.) I’ll do my final grocery shopping on Tuesday — gotta avoid Wednesday at all costs. It’s a zoo. And by Thursday, I’ll be cooking turkey and stuffing and my favorite food in all the world, mashed potatoes. Yum.

I wish all of you a Happy Thanksgiving, and if you don’t celebrate it, then I wish you a very happy Fall, wherever you are.

See you all back here next Sunday!

WE HAVE COVER!

Posted by dbreynolds on September 25, 2011

Yep, we finally have a cover for DUNCAN! And If you click on the image, you can see the entire cover flat. So pretty!

And that’s not all! I’ve added the back cover blurb, too! Check it out!

I figure that’s enough for this week, but WAIT, there’s more! Once you’ve finished drooling over Duncan, you can check out the Banned Books Blog Hop at Bea’s Book Nook. The blog hop is all over the blog-o-sphere and on Facebook and Twitter, too. But I’ll be posting next week over at Bea’s, encouraging everyone to read a banned book!

See you later this week at the Banned Books event (I’ll post a reminder on Facebook and Twitter) and right back here next week … although it’s gonna be tough topping Duncan! :D
